Dear Future Husband, I don't know how far true this is, but apparently love is real. Crazy, right? I've spent a good part of my life believing that fair tales could come true and that the concept of " happily ever after " is a theory one can prove. With time and a few bad break-ups, all of that changed. I didn't believe in love and thought that relationships were a waste of time. It's hard for me to admit this, but all that has changed now... I met a beautiful couple at The mall the other day. Their names were Toni and Ntombi. Ntombi was beautiful, young and witty. Her husband seemed more reserved with a dry sense of humour. I can honestly say I was blessed to be in their presence that day, because the love they had overwhelmed me. You see, what had happened was they were trying for their first child since a year after they got married. They were both saved at the time and loved God with all they had but still couldn't produce a child. This downfall took a toll on their marriage and the love between them faded. The husband had a female friend at work that he confided in regarding issues he faced in his life as a whole, and you could say that after some time she took advantage of that. Late afternoons at work turned to overtime hours in the office with her catching up on work or getting work done so that they could enjoy their weekends without worry. One evening, after getting coffee for the both of them, the husband walked back into the. Office only to find his colleague posing half-naked on his desk. He explained to her how committed he was to his wife and that she should get dressed but she wasn't concerned. She got off the table, kissed him softly on his lips and their lustful affair had begun. They went at it every day since then, location changed as the relationship progressed. The funny thing about all this was that the same thing happened with the wife, except with her high school friend. When both were home, acts of affection were a thing of the past, fights became more prevalent. The situation got pretty bad, to the point where the husband moved out. The wife knew her marriage was over and couldn't even forge a romantic relationship with her friend since he was married too! One Sunday morning, the wife left for church and attended the sermon that put things into perspective. The minister explained how even before the concept of adultery among men had begun, we committed adultery against God. We cheated in Him with our dreams, unbelief, doubt and the pleasures of sin. He has been, and still is, our first love and with the fall of man, we've been exposed temptations that've destroyed our relationship with Him. The sermon induced conviction in this woman and she ran to the feet of God with intention to repent. For a few days thereafter she prayed for her marriage and her husband. She looked to God as a place of refuge and strength as change seemed far ahead. She received a call about two weeks after the sermon from her husband, telling her that he needed to come home to get the rest of his things. The divorce papers were being drawn up by his lawyer and. He felt the need to move out. At one moment she felt all hope was lost, and the praying had been for nothing. That evening he came over with his mistress. They went up to the bedroom, packed the rest of his things in bags and packed them into the car. His mistress grinned triumphantly as she walked out the house, looking at the wife in a boastful manner. The husband stood at the door, wanting to say his last goodbyes. Husband: " Well, I guess this is it. I wish you a good life, and hope you find the happiness I was never able to give you. " Wife: " The happiness I deserve, I already have. The Lord has been there for me through all this, so I lack nothing. I appreciate your concern though. " Husband: " Alright... I have to go. I'll see you in a few months. " And off he went... About a year passed, the divorce finalised and life completely different from the year before. The woman got a promotion at work and was co-heading the company she worked for. Her relationship with God grew day-by-day, and each day came with new bouts of favour just for her. Everything went well for her, and she was completely happy... One day, she got a phone call from her ex-husband. He'd been drinking and was angry. He cursed at her, told her how worthless he thoughts he was and kept telling her that she'd never find anyone better than him because she wasn't worthy of such. The whole night she spent crying, allowing his words to mess with her spirit and tear her down. Another year passed, she was the CEO of her company and was doing amazingly well for herself. Her secretary allowed her ex-husband into the office. He looked a lot more handsome than the last time she saw him. All the feelings she and for him started flooding in, making her weak at the knees and at a loss for words... Toni: " The Lord sent me here to apologise. I realise now, after all this time what fools we were for giving up on what we had. I heard a message talking about going back to God as our first love and that our relationships with others fall apart because we forget about purr with God. So here I am, asking you for a second chance. " All Ntombi could do was cry... She was so overwhelmed with joy at the fact that God answered her prayer, and did so magnificently! They've been together since, and have to crazy boys... I hope our relationship will be as solid as theirs. While I wait for you, just know that I think about, pray for and love you.
